We are thrilled to share the heartwarming story of Inchcape Kenya’s recent corporate social responsibility initiative, which left an indelible impact on Meta Meta Children’s Home and eight other homes supported by Lift the Children (LTC). On December 9th, 2023, Inchcape Kenya generously donated 16 computers, marking a significant step toward enhancing the lives of children and young individuals in need.

The 16 computers were distributed as follows:

1. Meta Meta Children’s Home received 8 computers to launch a Child Welfare Program aimed at training children and young individuals in computer applications.

2. 8 Other Children’s Homes each received one computer to assist in day-to-day operations.

Challenges Addressed:
These children’s homes lacked computers, leading to challenges such as electronic data storage, confidentiality concerns, difficulties in engaging with government initiatives like CPIMS (Child Protection Information Management System), and the cumbersome nature of case management without computers.

Impact of Computer Donation:
1. Data Security: The computers enable secure storage of children’s data, meeting data protection requirements.
2. Confidentiality: The provision of computers eliminates the need for public cyber spaces, preserving the confidentiality of children’s information.
3. CPIMS – Government Initiatives: Children’s homes can actively participate in initiatives like CPIMS, updating children’s data regularly with the aid of computers.
4. Case Management: Computers facilitate efficient case management by allowing the transition from hard copies to soft copies, reducing costs and streamlining processes.

Inchcape Kenya’s Journey: The Inchcape Kenya team embarked on this journey with the intention of donating computers to children’s homes. However, they faced the challenge of identifying genuine and needy homes. By chance, they discovered Lift the Children’s website and reached out via email. Grateful for the prompt response, they received clear information on homes that could benefit from the donation.
Remarkably, Inchcape Kenya’s commitment didn’t end with the computer donation. After conversations with Mary, the Country Director for LTC, the IT team at Inchcape Kenya approached management to fund the revamping and upgrading of the computers, demonstrating their dedication to making a lasting impact.

Commitment and Support:
1. Training Offer: Inchcape Kenya’s IT team committed to providing training and ongoing support for effective computer use.
2. Operational Status: Computers at Meta Meta Children’s Home were all upgraded with necessary software and were successfully installed.
3. Food Support: Inchcape also extended support to Meta Meta Children’s Home by providing essential food items.
