Swabur children’s Home is a charitable organization founded by Zaharia Mwalimu Badi and Mr Jumaa Bakari Kingabwa. As Zaharia was orphaned at age 9, her understanding of the tribulations that orphans go through compelled her to open a children’s centre. Mr. Juma is a retired employee of the ports of Mombasa. The two founders were eager to help the poor, improve their living standards, and give orphans and vulnerable children the chance to grow to full maturity and realize their maximum potential. Swabur provides shelter, protection and meets their physical, spiritual, developmental, educational and social needs. In addition to residential care, Swabur supports 90 children in their outreach programs.
