Community Progressive Focus Centre was created by Salyvaih Thuo while working at the Kenya US Embassy in Njiru, Nairobi County, Kenya. After seeing that many children were left unattended and uncared for in the area, she got the inspiration and urge to establish a center where she could provide nourishing food, a place to stay, and other basic needs for children. Salyvaih started her home with 13 children and it has grown over the years to accommodate many more vulnerable children. As the available schools were too far away and frequently discriminated against the children from the streets, she recognized the need to establish a school.

Salyviah tries to meet the needs of all the children in the best way she can. They are currently trying to improve the sustainability of the center by raising funds to keep rabbits and drill a borehole. They are also doing poultry and goat keeping as income-generating activities in order to keep their center running. This is a great way to help meet the needs of the children while also generating income for the center. However, it is a constant struggle because they are constantly up against financial constraints due to economic recession in the country.

Every child deserves the chance to have a basic need met, and that is why we at LTC work hard to help meet the needs of the children. To be offered a safe and secure environment, as well as meals, clothing, and medical care. In addition, it provides enrichment opportunities so that children can develop their talents and passions.
