Empowering Futures – 12 Young Adults Embark on Vocational Training at G-BIACK
24 January 2025
At Lift the Children, we believe in empowering young adults with the skills they need to build independent, successful futures. On January 20th, we proudly sent off 12 bright young individuals—two from Uganda and ten from Kenya—to the Grow Biointensive Agriculture Center of Kenya (G-BIACK) for an intensive 18-month vocational training program.
What Will They Learn?
These trainees (nine males and three females) will receive specialized training in agroecology, textile design, computer studies, cooking, and baking—essential skills for self-sufficiency and resilience. The program is designed to provide a holistic learning experience that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical skills.
- Agroecology: Understanding sustainable farming methods and how to grow nutritious food using minimal resources.
- Textile Design: Learning the art of crafting clothing and fabrics, which can be turned into a source of income.
- Computer Studies: Gaining digital literacy skills essential for modern workplaces.
- Cooking & Baking: Developing culinary expertise that can lead to employment or entrepreneurship in the food industry.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Supporters
This incredible opportunity was made possible by LTC Canada, which generously covered the school fees for all trainees. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the home directors who have gone the extra mile to provide additional support to the students.
As these young adults embark on their transformative journey, we stand with them, cheering them on every step of the way. Together, we are shaping a generation of self-reliant and empowered individuals.
