CHRISTMAS IN A CHILDREN ORPHANAGE-
25 December 2020
In Africa Christmas is a family event and day- Families come together to Merry and feel the love of one another. Lift the Children Africa director while reflecting about Christmas- Shared about his Childhood memories of Christmas.
” As children we always looked forward to Christmas, we knew it was going to be a day of fun, we would wear our best outfits, which included well cleaned up old shoes. The day started by eating the best meals, often, rice, Chapati served with chicken stew. We then proceeded to church where we would perfoam, the birth of Christ play, coupled with dance and celebration. In the afternoon, we proceeded for walks either to the markets and or other places where other children and people gathered to display their Christmas best outfits….The day was fun….”
Just as Christmas has been an event for families for years, The orphanages supported by Lift the Children too give an opportunity to children to celebrate and feel the unity of being in a family. Often they would have many visitors joining them to have a fun filled experience. This year is different because of COVID-19.
But that has not completely killed the Christmas spirit—-Many Directors have shared their Christmas messages with us and we wish to share some of them with you below.
