We support the Children Centers in the following manner:

Housing
Housing
Most children’s centres sponsored by LTC are located in the slums. The facilities in many cases are in poor condition and require improvements. Donors are invited to fund improvement projects that will help the orphanages meet local government standards and provide appropriate living conditions for the children.
Food
Food
With food costs rising, food security has become a real challenge across East Africa. LTC funds food security initiatives and provides education to children centres on nutrition, food safe practices, and food security. Donors are invited to fund emergency bulk food purchases and outreach feeding programs.
Education
Education
All school-age children within LTC-funded children’s centres must attend school. LTC funds are often used to pay for books, uniforms, lunch, and tuition. With sponsorship of $15/month per child, donors can provide educational opportunities to open doors to a better future.
Financial
Financial
We estimate it costs between $45 and $90/month to take care of a single child, depending on age and special needs. To reduce dependency on LTC, we allocate $15CAN per child per month to the children’s centres to be used toward housing, education, food, and other basic necessities.
Training on Re-integration
Training on Re-integration
LTC understands the importance of family-based care. We support the ongoing training of the management and social workers of orphanages in the processes of harmless, holistic and systematic reintegration of children, while ensuring children receive the best care possible while in the orphanages.
Case management
Case management
LTC delivers child focused and family centred interventions that seek to improve children’s well-being. These require thorough assessment and documentation of children from entry point to the exit, including: admission documents, court committal orders, behavioural and child protection policies, assessment tools, and exit strategies for the children.
Monitoring & Evaluation
Monitoring & Evaluation
Lift the Children staff conduct regular monitoring of the children’s centres to ensure best practices in child care and protection. In addition, LTC works closely with local authorities to promote compliance of the children’s centres in line with set standards and guidelines.
Capacity building
Capacity building
LTC conducts regular training sessions for the management and staff of LTC-funded children’s centres. Areas of focus include child protection, improving management practices, government compliance, sustainability, fundraising, record keeping, and more. This helps managers maintain focus on the best ways to deliver their mission and vision.
